Koality Gaming X FF7FS : Variant Mode Coverage

Variant Mode is an asymmetrical mode in which a variant team of 3 members faces off against a candidate team of 9 members.

• The candidate team is tasked with either defeating Variant players or Destroy 2 mako reactors a points A and B to drain points from the enemy team.

• Variants are transformed into some of FF7s most famous monsters and legendary heroes! It is their goal to defend points A and B while defeating candidates as fast as possible.

First Team to Drain 400 points from the enemy team wins!

The newest mode in FF7FS has arrived and it brings a very legendary surprise that is sure to excite many FF7 fanatics. Yes, the new Variant mode allows you the ability to play as… a Cactuar! OK, so the main draw is really the ability to play as Sephiroth, which is exactly as fun as it sounds.

As a whole Variant mode is a hectic, fast paced battle that pits a team of powerful monsters vs a team of candidates. I tend to find the first 3-4 battles very enjoyable and a very cool change of pace from the usual Battle Royale mode (or the sweat fest that was Blitz mode). Unfortunately there is a sharp decline in said enjoyment as there is only so many times you can shoot a reactor or get killed by Sephiroth before things get a tad stale.

Overall I find Variant mode to be a welcome addition to the FF7FS universe as it at the very least shows that the game is still willing to try new things and churn out new content. Even if it’s just for a couple of rounds here or there it is definitely worth a try and hopefully when it returns next season, it is improved even more.
